Urea-Formaldehyde resin Plant

Customer :

Borden Chemical inc.

Project description

Cegerco has created their new resin and urea formaldehyde plant on behalf of Borden Chemical in Saint-Romuald.

For the execution of this turnkey contract worth $33 million, Cegerco entrusted the retail engineering mandate to BPR, while they themselves entrusted the engineering Cegerco’s sister firm, Cegertec, is a civil and structural company.

While Cegerco carried out all site, concrete and building work with their own strength, the electromechanical work was subcontracted to Lambert-Somec. After commencing detailed engineering in February 2000, site work began in April 2000. Thanks to the synergy between Cegerco and Cegertec, the civil and concrete works were sufficiently completed for construction holidays to enable electromechanical work to start as soon as you return.

Taking place on 2 shifts and with a peak of 350 workers, all the work was completed, including the vacuum tests, at the end of November allowing the customer, with the help of Cegerco, start-up of the plant in the first days of December.

As the running-in period has been completed, the customer has made his first shipments of beginning of 2001. In the opinion of the client, this is undoubtedly a remarkable success from the point of view of the schedule, without prejudice to the quality and all within the budgetary limits assigned to this project
